Manchester United vs Man City FA Cup Final Kick-off time to be Moved Forward for First Time in 12 Years

The FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United is set to kick-off at 3pm for the first time since 2011.
City and United will meet for the third time this season on Saturday, June 3 to compete for the trophy at Wembley.

The FA Cup final will kick-off in the afternoon.

Previous finals have edged towards an evening kick-off, with Liverpool’s win in last season’s competition starting at 4:45pm.

However, as reported by the Daily Mail, this year’s edition is set to be brought forward.

The Metropolitan Police had raised concerns about the game kicking off in the evening due to the derby being a high-risk fixture.

It is the first ever all-Manchester final, and many fans would have needed to rush to catch the last trains from London if they stuck to the normal time.

Despite later kick-offs being more desirable to broadcasters and advertisers, the Football Association are said to have not opposed the police’s advice.

The 2012 FA Cup, when Chelsea beat Liverpool, kicked-off at 5:15pm, with 4:45pm being the earliest time since then.

Mahrez shone at Wembley to send City to the final.

However, June’s showdown will take place earlier in the day this time round, with the two rivals both eyeing glory against their neighbours.

City claimed a comfortable 3-0 win over Championship side Sheffield United in their semi-final, with Riyad Mahrez netting a hat-trick.

United had to go all the way to penalties to overcome Brighton after a 0-0 draw and went through thanks to Victor Lindelof’s successful spot-kick.

Erik ten Hag’s side are seeking their second trophy of the season following their Carabao Cup success earlier in the year.

City on the other hand could be set to win the treble this season as they also chase Premier League and Champions League glory.
