Inventory Accountant
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Monitor and ensure that all transactions in the system are properly processed on time and accurate such as receiving of incoming deliveries, stocks transfers, returns, disposals & etc.
- Review and reconcile discrepancies between inventory received and vendor invoices
- Support the general ledger and monthly financial close process through preparation of month-end journal entries and account reconciliations related to inventory and cost of goods sold accounts
- Identify inventory discrepancies, research root causes and participate in efforts to implement demonstrated permanent corrective actions
- Preparation of weekly, monthly, annual inventory reports
- Facilitate periodic counts and reconcile variances
- Develop and maintain internal control documentation
- Spearhead the implementation of inventory processes
- Other tasks that may be assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or Management Accounting.
- At least 3-5 years of inventory, cost, or related accounting experience.
- Relevant experience in retail industry.
- Knowledge of GAAP.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; experienced and knowledgeable of inventory ERP system
- Strong organizational and communication skills, detail oriented; excellent written, verbal communication and collaborative skills.
- Ability to research, compile, analyse and interpret data; ability to solve complex problems independently and quickly.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize accordingly despite change in scale, scope, or deadline in fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability and the ability to remain calm and focused.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with all colleagues and partners
