SJM Resorts introduces Palazzo Versace hotel

More than ten years after Versace announced its plan to open a Palazzo Versace hotel in Macau’s Cotai district, and over two years since the Grand Lisboa Palace gaming resort, which includes the hotel, was opened, SJM Holdings Ltd. held an official ceremony on Saturday to launch the hotel brand.

Donatella Versace, the sister of the late Gianni Versace, was present at the event, along with American artist John Legend and his spouse Chrissy Teigen, as well as a number of notable Asian singers and actors.

A press release from SJM Resorts Ltd., the Macau branch of SJM Holdings, said that Daisy Ho Chiu Fung, managing director, “the Grand Lisboa Palace now stands out as home to the only couture-focused designer hotels in Macau, positioning our city as one of the few destinations worldwide offering such ultraluxe branded hospitality experiences.”

Speaking with much pleasure, Ms. Versace, the company’s chief creative officer, said, “It is wonderful to bring together so many friends for such a special event to mark the opening.”

In the summer of 2013, SJM and Versace announced their alliance. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Grand Lisboa Palace opened for business in July 2021, albeit it took some time for all of its facilities, notably the 271-room Palazzo Versace, to fully open.

The rebranded hotel opened for business in April of last year, and as of the fourth quarter of 2023, every room is available.

Another hotel at Grand Lisboa Palace that is associated with a well-known fashion brand is the Karl Lagerfeld hotel, which made its debut in December 2021.
