MBS new tower to feature 587 rooms

January 30, 2024 Singapore Casino & Hotel

The authorities of the city-state of Singapore have granted permission for the Marina Bay Sands casino resort to construct its fourth tower. A total of 587 rooms spread over 153,100 square meters (1.65 million square feet) of hotel space will be housed in the new tower.

The first design, which debuted in 2019, called for a sky roof, a 15,000-seat stadium, and a hotel tower with 1,000 all-suite rooms.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore states that 12,185 square meters of retail space will be included in the new hotel tower.

Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s Marina Bay Sands is now renovating Tower 3, the hotel lobby, and the rooftop Sands SkyPark for a total of $750 million. Together with the $1 billion spent on renovating Marina Bay Sands Towers 1 and 2, this is additional.

Apart from the construction of a fourth hotel tower next to the current complex and the provision of extra space for conventions, exhibitions, meetings, and incentives, Las Vegas Sands has committed to investing at least SGD 4.5 billion (US$3.3 billion) in the property’s expansion.

An extension until April 8, 2023 was granted to Las Vegas Sands last year so they could start construction on the Marina Bay Sands project. April 8, 2028 is when the Marina Bay Sands 2.0 project is expected to be finished.

A Marina Bay Sands project PowerPoint from Las Vegas Sands said that the project’s budget and schedule “are subject to revision based upon the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and other factors.” According to the report, project costs are expected to exceed the $3.3 billion initial estimates for 2019 due to a number of factors, including higher labor and material costs, inflation, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
