PH, US forge partnership to combat crypto crimes

In order to combat cryptocurrency fraud, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the Philippines has joined forces with the SEC of the United States and the Asian Development Bank.

According to the report, the three organizations organized an International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Workshop and a specialized Investigation and Enforcement Training Workshop. The SEC of the Philippines has recently formalized its commitment by endorsing the IOSCO Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding, which focuses on combating cryptocurrency-related offenses.

The collaboration between these organizations represents a major step forward for digital asset governance in the Philippines. As part of its mission to safeguard the public from securities fraud and other forms of investment deception, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of the Philippines actively engages with global institutions.
