Police nabs man in Vietnam casino after 24-day manhunt

A thrilling 24-day search ended when police caught a person in a Vietnamese casino, who is believed to have robbed a bank in South Korea earlier.

The 47-year-old suspect, whose name is being kept secret, is accused of taking about KRW 39 million ($29,307) from a store of the National Credit Union Federation of Korea in Daejeon.

During the bold bank robbery, the suspect wore a black hat, made a distraction with a fire extinguisher, and threatened a bank worker with a knife. The robbery was carefully planned to happen when there were few people working and no customers in the bank.

In order to get away from the law, the suspect came up with a complicated plan that included two bikes and many different ways to get away. Even though security video helped police find the suspect, it was clear that he had left the country soon after the heist.

Authorities were keen to catch the criminal, so they asked Interpol and Vietnamese authorities for help. When a South Korean person living in Vietnam told them that the suspect was at a nearby casino, their work paid off. The watchful South Korean saw a sign about the suspect and told the cops right away.

It was decided to keep an eye on the casino, and after a few days, the suspect showed up. The person was caught at a casino in Danang late on Sunday night after the National Police Agencies of both South Korea and Vietnam worked together with Interpol to plan the operation.

Even though it is thought that the stolen money had already been spent, the suspect was caught with KRW 2 million ($1,504) worth of gambling chips. He is going to be sent to South Korea to face charges related to the bank heist.
