Veteran executive George Tanasijevich departs Marina Bay Sands

October 11, 2022 Singapore Events & AnnouncementsIndustry Updates

Long-time Las Vegas Sands (LVS) and Marina Bay Sands (MBS) executive George Tanasijevich has left the company after almost 20 years.

According to a report by The Straits Times, the 55-year-old has accepted a position at a “major real estate project” in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Contacted by Inside Asian Gaming on Monday, an MBS spokesperson said, “We can confirm that George has left the company to pursue another career opportunity.”

The departure of Tanasijevich, who led the company’s bid to win one of two Singapore IR licenses in 2006 and helmed the property for nine years among various other leadership roles, comes some two years after he stepped aside as MBS President and CEO as part of an executive reshuffle.

He had maintained his dual roles as Managing Director of MBS and Managing Director of Global Development for LVS – the latter of which had seen him lead the company’s efforts to develop an integrated resort in Yokohama, Japan. LVS eventually withdrew from the Japan IR process in early 2020.

Tanasijevich, an attorney and former real estate development executive in both the US and Singapore – where he worked with government-linked CapitaLand before joining LVS – is the second significant departure from the iconic property in less than 18 months after Chief Casino Officer Andrew MacDonald stepped down last year. MacDonald has since joined cross-town rival Resorts World Sentosa as Executive Vice President and Chief Casino Officer.
