Macau records almost 137,000 visitors in Golden Week as Macau travel industry rep says some hotels hit 80% capacity

Macau’s Public Security Police Force has revealed that a total of 136,647 visitors arrived in Macau during Golden Week (30 April to 4 May), with a daily average of 27,329 visitors.

The Macao Government Tourism Office also announced late Thursday that Macau’s average hotel occupancy rate had also reached 59.5%, aided by the 41,544 visitor arrivals last Saturday – the highest single day tally of 2022 so far.

However, Macau Travel Industry Council president, Andy Wu Keng Kuong, told Inside Asian Gaming that many hotels would have recorded occupancy rates of 70% or higher during Golden Week. In particular he noted that Macau’s integrated resorts attracted more tourists, stating, “the average hotel occupancy rate of these would be 60% to 70%, and some individual hotels may even reach 80%.”
