Macau welcomes 150k visitors for two consecutive days

The second day in a row that Macau saw more than 150,000 visitors arrived on Sunday, indicating a positive start to the Golden Week festivities.

The Public Security Police Force said that 150,039 people arrived on Sunday, which was just marginally less than the 158,726 people who arrived on Saturday. When the 88,089 visitors who arrived on Friday are included, the total number of visitors who arrived over the first three days of the Golden Week holiday is 396,854. The 132,284 daily average is 429% greater than it was at the same point last year.

Of the 150,039 tourists that arrived on Sunday, 110,705 were from the mainland of China, a rise of 393% from the previous year, while 30,687 were travellers from Hong Kong, who saw an increase of 1,568%. This indicates that compared to the previous two days of Golden Week, the proportion of mainland arrivals on Sunday was much higher.

After Macau’s Gaming Inspection Bureau (DICJ) revealed its monthly GGR data on Sunday, which showed that gaming revenues declined month over month in September, the number of visitors has increased. Due to the Golden Week vacation season, analysts forecast that October would have the best sales performance of the whole year.
