What is Carlos Yulo’s reaction to his mother’s tearful apology?

Carlos Yulo reveals whether he will compete anew in 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Two-time Paris Olympics gold medalist Carlos Yulo is setting his sights on the future while addressing personal matters. Yulo, who won gold in both the floor exercise and vault events, has become a symbol of Filipino excellence on the global stage.

However, amid his triumph, Yulo has also faced personal challenges. In a recent interview, Yulo was asked to comment on the public press conference held by his mother in Manila. Yulo emphasized that he had already forgiven his mother and preferred to keep family matters private.

“Matagal ko na pong napatawad ang parent ko po,” Yulo said during the August 8 episode of 24 Oras.

“Sa’kin lang po, personal na po namin itong problem, ayaw ko na rin po masyado ‘tong pag-usapan.”

Despite the personal difficulties, Yulo’s commitment to his fellow athletes and the Olympic spirit remains unwavering. He expressed his pride in the efforts of all Filipino athletes who competed in Paris, celebrating their dedication and hard work.

“Nandito po tayo ngayon sa Olympics. Gusto ko pong i-celebrate natin ang pinaghirapan ng mga atleta at nakamit ng mga atleta. Sobrang proud po ako sa mga atletang Pilipino na ipinaglaban ang Pilipinas.

“Alam ko may mga natalo tayo sa ibang atleta pero sobrang proud po ako sa kanila sa dedication, effort, and pag-show up po nila sa araw na ‘yun. Nasa inyo ang suporta ko, mahal na mahal ko kayo,” said the Pinoy athlete who is still currently in France.

Looking ahead, Yulo has no intention of slowing down. The gymnast has already set his sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, which would mark his third consecutive Olympic appearance.

“Hindi pa po ako titigil, gusto ko pa po mag-Olympics sa 2028 sa LA and I’ll do my best po sa lahat ng trainings and magiging challenges ko pa po [na] next,” he disclosed.

He also mentioned the upcoming changes in the gymnastics scoring system, known as the code of points, which will take effect next year. Yulo plans to study and adapt to these changes to ensure he remains at the top of his game.

“Sa gymnastics po, mag-iiba na rin po ‘yung code of points next year, so ‘yun ang pag-aaralan po namin and kailangan ko po mag-adjust so I really need to look at things na gagawin ko next year,” he explained.
