Resorts World Sentosa to discontinue Hard Rock hotel brand

February 6, 2024 Singapore Casino & Hotel

As part of its continuous growth plans, Genting Singapore Ltd.’s Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) gaming complex in Singapore will stop using the Hard Rock hotel name.

The Hard Rock Hotel Singapore will cease to be operated under the Hard Rock brand name on March 2, 2024, according to a notice posted on the property’s website. As part of RWS’s expansion ambitions, the hotel will undergo a comprehensive renovation, which will significantly change the integrated resort in the years to come.

There are six hotels in the complex, the most expensive being the US$223 million Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, which has 360 rooms and opened in late January 2010.

Current hotel bookings are good until March 1. After that date, guests with bookings will stay for free in an equivalent guestroom at Hotel Ora, the newest five-star hotel in the complex.

As part of its expansion plans, Genting Singapore said that the Hard Rock Hotel Singapore will close to make way for a new, upscale hotel.

A total of about SDG6.80 billion (US$5.06 billion) would be invested over the next eight years by Genting Singapore to expand and enhance Resorts World Sentosa, including both ongoing and planned developments. This announcement was made in November. The SGD4.5 billion for “RWS 2.0” that has already been announced is part of this investment.

The company said that construction on its “Waterfront development” is scheduled to start in 2024, having received preliminary approval from the relevant municipal authorities. The renowned architectural firm Benoy created the biophilic building and over 700 hotel rooms on the Waterfront site.
