Macau’s Responsible Gaming Promotion 2023 concludes with 13 organizations receiving honors
Thirteen organizations were named “Responsible Gambling Model Units” at the end of the Macau Responsible Gaming Promotion 2023, while 146 trainees received certificates. The campaign was co-organized by the Social Welfare Bureau (IAS), the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), and the University of Macau’s Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming. Its theme was “Seeking Help for Winning the Future.”
At the closing event, 146 students who completed the “Macau Professional Certificate in Gambling Counselling” and “Certificate in Macau Responsible Gaming Advisor” courses were awarded certificates. Furthermore, 34 test takers received the “Macao Professional Certificate in Responsible Gaming Counselling.”
The percentage of local Macau people who are aware of responsible gambling has increased from 16.2% in 2009 to 64.39% in 2023, based on data from the IAS poll. The SAR Government’s success in fostering responsible gaming cooperation throughout the industry was highlighted by the organizers.
Cheang Io Tat, Head of the Department of Prevention and Treatment of Problem Gambling and Drug Dependence at IAS, claims that the volume of assistance requests received by the centralized registration system for gambling disorders has returned to levels seen in 2019. Over the first three quarters of the year, 110 requests for aid were received, a double-digit increase over the duration of the outbreak. Remarkably, thirty percent of those who asked for help were visitors.
The theme for the Responsible Gaming Policy’s 15th anniversary, according to the organizers, is “Seeking Help for Winning the Future,” with a focus on raising passenger knowledge of gambling addictions.
