SJM conducts “product seminar” in Jakarta to increase global presence

SJM Holdings Ltd, a Macau-based company, recently held a “product seminar” in Jakarta, Indonesia, with the intention of promoting Macau’s travel-related goods and growing its global presence. The event was attended by about 100 professionals from the Indonesian tourist sector, who talked with SJM staff.

SJM, which oversees the Grand Lisboa Palace and the Grand Lisboa casino hotel, utilized the conference to strengthen its partnership with the Indonesian tourism industry. The company sought to understand the preferences of Southeast Asian tourists in order to develop market-focused travel products.

In order to promote Macau’s tourism attractions, the Macao Government tourism Office (MGTO) also went to a consumer travel event in Jakarta. The government’s goal of luring customers from markets outside than China was underscored by the presence of all six gaming companies in Macau.

The rival company to SJM, Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, declared plans to open its first global business development office in Tokyo, Japan, with further facilities in Bangkok and Seoul to follow. A promotional event was staged in Singapore by Sands China Ltd. to advertise Macau’s offerings to the global market.

Director of MGTO Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes expressed assurance that Macau’s casino owners will succeed in attracting international visitors, which is consistent with the government’s objective of broadening the clientele.
