Customers file case against MGM, Caesars over data negligence
Regarding the recent breaches, MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment are the targets of at least five lawsuits claiming carelessness in the protection of customer data.
Consumers contend, according reports, that the businesses have not given them enough information to assess if their data has been hacked or poses a danger going forward. Consumers have serious reservations about the possibility for the transmission of personal data on the dark web.
The lawsuits seek monetary compensation for the victims as well as potential profits from the use of the stolen data by businesses before it was stolen.
The accusations have been made at the same time that officials in the American state of Nevada have called for an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the intrusions and the vulnerabilities that need to be fixed.
