Hotels, resorts in Macau experience booking surge due to Golden Week

The majority of hotels, casinos, and resorts in Macau are already reserved for the upcoming Autumn Golden Week holiday.

GGRAsia reported that, as of Thursday last week, 22 hotels connected to Macau’s casino complexes had sold out of standard accommodations for two adults for at least three nights during the eight-day Autumn Golden Week celebrations. Various industry experts view this strong advance booking trend, particularly in the five-star category, as a positive indicator for casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) during the holiday season.

Autumn Golden Week consists of the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 29 and China’s National Day on October 1.

Grand Lisboa in Macau’s peninsula, Palazzo Versace within the Cotai gaming resort Grand Lisboa Palace, and the hotels at MGM Macau and MGM Cotai are among the 22 hotels with no more available accommodations on most evenings.

Wynn Macau and Wynn Cotai are also completely occupied, as are the Nüwa and Morpheus Hotel at City of Dreams Macau and Epic Tower at Studio City.

There are also no accommodations available at Galaxy Hotel, Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, The Ritz-Carlton Macau, and JW Marriott Hotel Macau in the Galaxy Macau complex on the majority of nights. In addition, Phase 3 of the complex’s Raffles at Galaxy Macau has no available accommodations.

During the upcoming Golden Week, the few remaining hotel accommodations within casino complexes have average nightly rates ranging from MOP3,000 (approximately US$373) to over MOP4,000 (excluding taxes and service fees). These tariffs apply specifically between September 30 and October 3.
