Former Marina Bay Sands executive banned from property reportedly over poaching concerns

August 20, 2024 Singapore Casino & HotelCrime & Legal

Andrew MacDonald, the Chief Casino Officer at Resorts World Sentosa, has been banned from entering Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

The ban was detailed in a Persona Non Grata notice issued on July 31, 2024. MacDonald posted the notice on his social media accounts on Sunday, August 18. It states that the veteran casino executive is “prohibited from entering or remaining on any part of Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort premises, including but not limited to the Hotel, Mall, Convention Center and Casino.”

According to Inside Asian Gaming, Marina Bay Sands reportedly issued the ban over concerns that MacDonald may have been attempting to poach customers and staff during recent visits.

MacDonald, however, denies these allegations, stating that his visits were purely social and coincidental. The ban remains in effect indefinitely, with Marina Bay Sands prepared to take legal action if MacDonald attempts to enter the property.

The executive who previously held a high-ranking position at Marina Bay Sands for nearly 12 years now faces potential legal action if he attempts to enter the property. MacDonald served as Corporate Senior Vice President and Chief Casino Officer of Marina Bay Sands until he stepped down in late 2021. He has been working in the casino and integrated resort industry for the past four decades.

He took up his role as Chief Casino Officer of Resorts World Sentosa in September 2022.
