Aristocrat obtains court orders vs. senior game design director

January 15, 2024 World Crime & LegaliGaming & Gambling

Court orders are purportedly in place against Aristocrat Leisure Ltd., an Australian-listed provider of digital gaming material and casino slot machines, and one of its important game design directors, Dinh Toan “Tony” Tran.

Judge Yaseen Shariff of the Australian federal court issued orders on January 9 to ban Tran, a Sydney, New South Wales resident, from using 6,800 data files that he allegedly stole from the company’s computer systems. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the downloads occurred about 7 a.m. on a Sunday in early December.

The court documents show that a search was conducted in compliance with the court’s instructions on Mr. Tran’s property in western Sydney. However, the lawyer representing Mr. Tran argued in court that his client was not informed of the proceedings or allowed to protest and that the orders were imposed without those things.

A further hearing has been scheduled for February, according to the aristocrat’s attorney who informed the court. The “Gold Stacks” slot game series and the slot connection “Choy’s Kingdom” are only two of the many products that Mr. Tran has produced, according to his LinkedIn profile.

In response to a question, Aristocrat said that since the issue is still pending in court, they are unable to comment.
