Southern Thai Province Eyes Casino to Lure Tourists Away from Malaysia

Proposing a casino development is a bold attempt to draw tourists from the Thai region of Songkhla, which borders Malaysia.

A casino, according to Songchai Mungprasithichai, chairman of the Songkhla Tourism Promotion Association, would increase travel, particularly in the frequently disregarded Ban Dan Nok neighborhood.

Mungprasithichai said that because of increased competition, Hat Yai, a popular tourist destination, has seen a decline in Malaysian visitors.
