MBS expansion expected to begin by July 2025

According to Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd, a division of Las Vegas Sands Corp., the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) casino resort in Singapore is about to go through a significant expansion.

A press statement sent on Friday said that work on the expansion would begin in July 2025 and be finished by July 2029.

Singaporean officials gave the business approval in January to build a fourth tower with 153,100 square meters (1.65 million square feet) of hotel space and 587 rooms. The new hotel tower in Singapore will include 12,185 square meters of retail space, according to the Urban Redevelopment Authority.

The development proposal includes a sky roof, better MICE facilities, a 15,000-seat arena, and more food and entertainment options.

When the expansion plan was initially conceived in 2019, it featured a hotel tower with 1,000 all-suite rooms. The expansion project would greatly increase Singapore’s attractiveness as a travel destination for business and pleasure, according to Patrick Dumont, President and Chief Operating Officer of Las Vegas Sands. Dumont emphasized that in order to strengthen Singapore’s position as a top MICE destination, additional conference and exposition space is required as well as the new arena’s ability to attract top-tier entertainment events and performers.

The casino sector has already committed to spending at least SGD4.5 billion (US$3.3 billion) in the property’s development, with a starting completion date of April 8, 2024. Las Vegas Sands is currently renovating Marina Bay Sands Tower 3’s Sands SkyPark rooftop and hotel lobby for a total of US$750 million. This cost is on top of the US$1 billion set aside for the restoration of Towers 1 and 2.

Las Vegas Sands anticipates opening the renovated Tower 3 rooms to the public early in the following year.
