Macau casino tycoons among richest people in the world
Macau casino tycoons have been included in Forbes’ richest people list.
Lui Che Woo, chairman of Galaxy Entertainment Group, has been named one of the top 10 wealthiest tycoons in Forbes’ 2024 list of Hong Kong’s 50 richest people. According to Forbes Asia, the combined fortunes of these 50 tycoons have dropped to $296 billion from $324 billion the previous year. Lui Che Woo’s net worth as of Wednesday was $12.1 billion, making him the world’s 153rd richest person.
Pansy Ho, chairperson of Shun Tak Holdings and chair and executive director of MGM China, ranked 22nd on the list with a fortune of $3.7 billion, and 779th globally.
Angela Leong, an executive director of SJM Holdings with ties to Macau, was rated 33rd on the list with a net worth of $2.4 billion. Forbes, on the other hand, classifies Angela Leong as a real estate professional rather than a gamer.
Lawrence Ho, Melco Entertainment’s chairman and CEO, had been on the list for the previous ten years but did not appear this year.
