Mohegan Tribal Gaming appoints new VP of financial planning and analysis
The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, a casino operator in the United States, has appointed Kurt Shotzberger as vice president of financial planning and analysis, according to a press release issued Thursday.
Mr. Shotzberger’s new duties include forecasting, financial modeling, financial and operational analysis, budgeting, and strategic planning. According to the press release, his efforts will be important in establishing Mohegan’s economic destiny, ensuring the company’s sustainability and success in all aspects.
Mohegan is well-known since it owns and operates the Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort in South Korea. The resort’s casino, which officially opened on February 3, offers a variety of gaming options, including as slot machines, table games, and electronic table games. In addition to gaming, the resort has a hotel, food choices, and an arena, which started operating in phases on November 30.
Mohegan offers casinos not just in South Korea, but also in the United States and Canada.
Ray Pineault, Mohegan’s president and CEO, expressed confidence in Mr. Shotzberger’s hire, noting that his extensive expertise in gaming and finance will give the company with a unique perspective and valuable talents.
With fifteen of those years spent in the gaming industry, Mr. Shotzberger brings over 20 years of financial experience to his new job. He is a vice president in Wachovia Securities’ gaming and hotel investment banking branch and has previously held senior management roles at IGT, a gaming industry supplier.
Earlier this month, Mohegan said that its net sales for the quarter ending December 31, 2023, were US$18.6 million, up 4.6 percent from the same time last year. According to the company’s chief financial officer Carol Anderson, the key drivers of this increase were Mohegan Digital’s continued growth and Mohegan Inspire’s non-gaming revenue.
