January 30, 2024 Macau Casino & Hotel

The Land and Urban Construction Bureau of Macau provided figures showing that seven hotel projects totaling 1,792 rooms were completed in 2023.

In the Cotai region, one of these projects was finished, adding 903 extra rooms. The organization did not, however, specify the precise project.

It should be emphasized that the data only contains information on hotel construction from the Land and Urban construction Bureau. When a project is completed, it needs approval from the Macao Government Tourism Office before it can be made public.

April 2023 will see the opening of Studio City’s new hotel tower, the Epic Tower, by Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd. In addition, the W Macau hotel tower, which has 557 guest rooms and is a part of Studio City’s Phase 2, made its premiere in September.

Mid-August saw the soft opening of the Raffles at Galaxy Macau hotel tower, which is a component of Phase 3 of the Galaxy Macau complex developed by casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd. With 700 rooms and suites, the second of the two new hotels in Phase 3 of the complex, the Andaz Macau, opened its doors in September.

Additionally, five hotel projects on the Macao peninsula were finished in 2023, adding a total of 763 hotel rooms, while one hotel project in the Taipa district of Macau was completed in 2023, adding 126 rooms.

The Land and Urban Construction Bureau said that as of the fourth quarter of 2023, 3,105 hotel rooms were being built in Macau.

In addition, as of the three months ended December 31, seven hotel projects totaling 3,956 more hotel rooms for the Macau market were pending government approval. Nevertheless, no timeframe for these projects’ anticipated completion was provided.

The Macao Statistics and Census Service estimates that as of the end of 2023, there will be 142 hotels in Macau, totaling 46,552 rooms.

With two new hotels totaling 2,808 rooms being developed, the Cotai area is the focal point of the bulk of the extra hotel supply being created. The Macau peninsula is now under development for an additional 297 rooms.

Seven further hotels—six in Macau and one in Taipa—with a total of 851 rooms ultimately constructed are also awaiting government approval.
