MGM China announces salary increase for eligible employees
The company that runs the casinos in Macau, MGM China Holdings Ltd., said on Monday that qualifying employees would start receiving raises on March 25.
The pay rise is expected to benefit almost 99 percent of the 12,000 workers of the firm and is seen as a sign of “appreciation for the dedication and contribution” from them.
The firm specified that team members having a monthly income equal to or less than MOP16,000 (US$1,986) would earn a regular wage adjustment of MOP600. Employees who meet the eligibility requirements and make more than MOP16,000 a month would get raises averaging 2.5 percent, with the amount varying according on their basic income.
In the press statement, Pansy Ho Chiu King, the head of MGM China, was quoted as stating, “MGM truly appreciates our wholehearted team.” She emphasized that the workforce is always striving to innovate better products and services, and the firm is happy to share the fruits of teamwork and its contribution to the economic recovery with its colleagues.
A “discretionary bonus” equivalent to one month’s salary for around 95% of the workforce was announced earlier this month by MGM China and other Macau operators. The incentive was supposed to be paid around Chinese New Year.
