MGM China to grant one-month bonus to staff members around Chinese New Year

MGM China Holdings Ltd. said on Wednesday that it would provide qualified employees with a “discretionary bonus” equal to one month’s pay around the time of the next Chinese New Year, which will bring in the Year of the Dragon on February 10.

The company’s sixteen-year existence in Macau coincides with the announcement. With over 12,000 workers, the substantial incentive is anticipated to benefit over 95% of the workforce—referred to as the “Golden Lion team.”

The corporate statement said that the chairman, Pansy Ho Chiu King, expressed appreciation for the workers’ efforts. The speaker expressed her admiration for MGM China’s remarkable accomplishments and victories in Macau for the last 16 years, highlighting the crucial role played by the Golden Lion team’s unwavering commitment.

Ho also gave an overview of the team’s long-term objectives, saying, “We will organize and participate in more iconic events and activities, and our properties will undergo full-scale upgrades, providing the team with a more splendid stage to shine and create new legends for Macau’s 25th anniversary.”

Bill Hornbuckle, co-chairperson of MGM China and CEO and President of MGM Resorts International, the parent business with headquarters in the United States, spoke at the bonus announcement.

Highlighting the team’s expertise and dedication to excellence, Hornbuckle connected these qualities to MGM China’s noteworthy progress and outstanding achievement in 2023. He brought out the team’s record-breaking market share this year in particular, highlighting its crucial role in the company’s success.
