It is said that the Filipino politician and businessman Alfredo “Albee” Benitez is selling a portion of his stake in DigiPlus Interactive, which was formerly known as Leisure and Resorts World Corp. (LRWC).

A total of 66.66 million shares were sold between PHP 7.01713 and PHP 7.45 (about $0.13), according to a document that Benitez filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange. Stockbroker CLSA Philippines handled the transaction’s mediation on December 20.

For its gaming and entertainment sector businesses based in the Philippines, DigiPlus Interactive serves as a holding company. The company’s digital transition included the debut of products including BingoPlus in 2022 and the digital sports betting app Arena Plus in 2023. From PHP 2.4 ($0.043) at the start of the year to PHP 8.2 ($0.15) at the end of December 2023, the company’s shares increased significantly in the year leading up to it.

Albee Benitez was the head of LRWC until he left the group in October 2021 to concentrate on politics. Despite the current deal, he still owns 536.4 million DigiPlus Interactive shares, which are worth PHP 4.38 billion ($78.02 million).
