Suspects in Mahadev betting app case arrested
Principal suspects in the Mahadev Book betting app case, a well-known criminal investigation in India, have been placed under arrest both domestically and abroad in recent days.
It is anticipated that hundreds of persons and amounts exceeding $1 billion will be involved in the litigation. Two main suspects, co-founders of the illegal betting app business Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, were taken into custody during the Christmas break. While Saurabh Chandrakar was captured earlier this year, Ravi Uppal was apprehended in Dubai and returned to India.
The co-founders of the Mahadev case, who purportedly started out as impoverished people before rising to prominence as gambling moguls, have been compared as a horrible example of a “rags-to-riches” story. The accused first operated a tire and juice firm before going to Dubai and, with the help of local contacts, creating the Mahadev Book gambling app.
Sports betting and casino applications, a network of agents on the ground, the widespread use of fictitious identification documents, and money laundering via bank accounts and cryptocurrencies are all allegedly provided by the program. The suspects are charged with money laundering, match-fixing, and illegal gambling.
