Convergence set to return to India in 2024

Riot Games’ Esports Lead for India and South Asia, Sukamal Pegu, has announced that Convergence, an esports event, will make a repeat visit to India in 2024.

Expected to be “bigger and more exciting,” the next edition will have a wider selection of games and activities. The announcement comes after Convergence’s first event, held in Bangalore, India’s Manpho Convention Centre from December 14–17, was a great success.

Six teams from three major locales competed in the inaugural tournament; the local favorites were Global Esports and True Rippers. FUT Esports defeated Team Vitality from the EMEA zone in the best-of-five grand finals, earning their first international triumph of the year and contributing to the $50,000 total prize money.

Sukamal Pegu said, “The passion displayed by our fans is our driving force and serves as a constant source of inspiration.” He also thanked the players, teams, sponsors, partners, and supporters. He commended all competing teams for their diligence and sportsmanship and complimented FUT Esports on their incredible feat. Pegu said that a better and more captivating Convergence would make a reappearance in 2024.

Although the exact date and location of the tournament in 2024 remain uncertain, further details will probably be released closer to the end of the VCT 2024 season, which is expected to occur in October.
