Chinese man wins $30M after buying 50,000 lottery tickets

A Chinese man from Nanchang, defying normal logic, made a major gamble by purchasing about fifty thousand lottery tickets, all of which had the same set of numbers. His audacious move paid off, surprisingly, as the combination he chose proved to be the winning one and brought him millions of dollars.

The anonymous individual claimed to be a regular lottery player and to have purchased about a million Yuan’s worth of tickets during the preceding five years. He made the decision to visit many shops in Nanchang , buying every Happy 8 ticket that was offered and writing the identical numbers on all 50,000 of them. The combinations chosen were 40, 41, 42, 44, 63, 64, and 65.

Many were taken aback when the combination turned each and every one of his tickets into a winner and claimed a prize of CNY 4,475 (about $628). Consequently, he accumulated an estimated $30 million in wealth.

Even while the narrative quickly gained popularity on Chinese social media, several people questioned the legitimacy of the win. The man’s confidence in buying thousands of Yuan on lottery tickets caused many to suspect foul play; suspicions ranged from insider information to government involvement in manipulating the win.
