Cambodia experiences significant increase in international tourist arrivals

Cambodia has seen a spectacular surge in foreign tourist visits, with 3.92 million tourists in the first nine months of this year, a 211% increase year on year, according to Vietnam News Agency, quoting Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism.

According to the survey, Thailand, Vietnam, and China were the top three source markets for foreign visitors in Cambodia from January to September.

According to Top Sopheak, Cambodia’s secretary of state and tourism industry spokeswoman, Cambodia is expected to have “at least 5 million” foreign visitor arrivals in 2023.

NagaCorp Ltd, the operator of NagaWorld, a monopoly casino resort in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, announced a 46.3% increase in gross gaming revenue (GGR) produced in the referral VIP market for the first nine months of the year. The firm credited its expansion to Cambodia’s tourist rebound.

Tim McNally, the company’s non-executive chairman, has previously noted the advantages of political stability in Cambodia. In its October filing, NagaCorp also mentioned the national general election in late July and the seamless establishment of a new government on August 22.

NagaCorp anticipates that Cambodia will continue to recover, with a rise in tourist arrivals, business visits, and foreign direct investments. NagaWorld, Phnom Penh’s first integrated resort, is well-positioned to profit from this trend of increased consumer visitation.
