HK to report new record of around 5,000 Covid cases
Health authorities are expected to confirm around 5,000 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, setting a new record for daily infections, according to sources.
Health officials reported a record 4,285 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, and a staggering 7,000 preliminary positive cases were pending confirmation.
The SAR also suffered 10 more deaths of Covid-19 patients, taking the death toll to 234.
Some 13,000 preliminary positive and confirmed patients were also awaiting admission to hospitals.
Leung Pak-yin, a former chief executive of the Hospital Authority, said the SAR could rack up over 100,000 infections in the coming week and that the medical system could break down.
