Why Talking Against Gambling Can Land You in an Indian Police Station

April 7, 2021 iGaming & Gambling

The founder of the studio behind FAU-G and Ncore, Vishal Gondal, has has been summoned to a Faridabad-based police station. This was about the number of legal notices he received after he spoke out about the gambling industry’s attempts at branding their apps as “skill-based games”.

Gondal has stated that his original comments were aimed towards society as a whole rather than a specific person or entity.

His lawyer stated: “The very fact that such online real money games have already been banned in several states and yet no first information report nor action of any sort has been taken by the complainant till date in respect of same proves that the present complaint is malicious and vexatious complaint targeting our client deliberately.”

This comes after the ongoing argument that many gambling companies make about their games being “skill-based”. By being so, it does not qualify for the gambling record and there are some distinctions to be drawn about its regulations.
