September 17, 2024 Philippines Casino & HotelIndustry Updates

Alliance Global Group Inc. (AGI), headed by businessman Andrew Tan, is set to invest around $300 million in a new integrated resort project in the Visayas.

AGI president and CEO, Kevin Tan, revealed that the group aims to start and open Boracay World Resorts by the end of next year.

Although the plans are still being finalized, Tan highlighted that the casino portion of the resort will be modest in size.

“It will be a boutique casino. We don’t want to construct a large building in Boracay. Instead, we’re focused on creating something that suits the scale of the island while also ensuring a sustainable design that complements the environment,” Tan stated.

Boracay World Resorts is part of two major projects outside Metro Manila being developed by Travellers International Hotel Group Inc., AGI’s leisure and tourism arm.

“Situated in Boracay, the nation’s leading tourist destination and named the world’s best beach by Condé Nast Traveler, Boracay World Resorts will further elevate the island’s appeal to global travelers,” Tan added. in a report published by the PhilStar.

“Our group owns a 150-hectare township called Boracay Newcoast, which includes an 18-hole golf course, a one-kilometer private beach, and close to 2,000 hotel rooms. Travelers are also creating an integrated resort with villas and hotel suites, positioning Boracay World Resorts as a top-tier destination. This project will combine the natural beauty of Boracay with the elegance and excitement of a modern resort,” he said.

Additionally, Travellers is investing around $400 million in another integrated resort, Mactan World Resorts, in Cebu, which is expected to begin operations by the end of 2026.
