DigiPlus Interactive Corp., formerly known as Leisure & Resorts World Corp, is making significant moves to enter Brazil’s burgeoning iGaming sector. The Philippine technology firm recently filed an application for a federal gaming license through its subsidiary, DigiPlus Brazil Interactive Ltda.
This license, known as Licença Para Loterias De Apostas De Quota Fixa, will permit the operation of both land-based and online sports betting, electronic games, live game studios, and other fixed-odds betting activities across Brazil.
The company disclosed this through information filed with the Philippine Stock Exchange last Monday, August 18, 2024. DigiPlus expects to receive the license approval on or before the end of November 2024.
DigiPlus is in the early stages of expanding its portfolio into new markets, driven by Brazil’s recent legalization of gaming and betting. Despite this push into new territory, DigiPlus plans to maintain the Philippines as its central market. The firm recognizes Brazil’s vast potential, given its large population of over 200 million and an impressive internet penetration rate of 87%.
In the Philippines, DigiPlus continues to support online and land-based operators through backend services and leasing slot machines. The company’s move into Brazil underscores its strategy to capitalize on the rapidly growing Latin American gaming market while keeping its primary focus on the Philippines.
