Cavite Governor Denies POGO Ties, Offers Million Peso Reward
Charges against Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla and his family for being connected to a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO) at Island Cove, a former family resort, have been refuted.
Posts on social media suggested that the Remullas were involved in the most recent POGO operations.
Remulla promised a reward of ₱10 million ($170,000) for proof of their participation. He emphasized that neither his family nor his administration had approved permits or offered security for the POGO hub.
Concerns have been made over the conversion of Island Cove into a POGO complex that would house thousands of Chinese laborers.
The Remullas acknowledged paying capital gains tax when they sold the island in 2018. Governor Remulla made it clear that POGO permits issued in 2020 were unaffected by his brother’s appointment to PAGCOR, the gaming regulator, in 2022.
He declared that neither gambling nor illegal activity is practiced by the family.
