3 people banned in casino for leaving children in car to gamble

February 23, 2024 World Casino & HotelCrime & Legal

Three people were banned from all casinos in Pennsylvania for leaving their kids alone in cars while they gambled. In February, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board acted upon petitions to outlaw the individuals during their monthly meeting.

One male was added to the Involuntary Exclusion List at Presque Isle Downs and Casino in Erie County after he left a nine-year-old alone in a car for three minutes in the 49-degree weather. It was also forbidden for a woman to leave three children in a car unattended for one hour and fifteen minutes when the outside temperature was seventy-two degrees at the same casino. After leaving a 12-year-old alone in a car for fifteen minutes in 50 degree weather, a second woman was denied entry to Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.

Apart from the limitations, the Board levied fines totaling $212,500. A $147,500 fine was imposed on Mountainview Thoroughbred Racing, LLC for incidents involving inadequate security measures on online gaming platforms and allowing minors to access the Hollywood Casino York gaming floor.

Due to their inability to meet minimal staffing requirements and their delay in reporting a voucher theft at Rivers Philadelphia Casino, Sugarhouse HSP Gaming, LP was fined $65,000.

The following meeting of the Board is set for Wednesday, March 20, at 10 a.m. in Harrisburg.
