Sportsbet inks five-year partnership deal with Melbourne Racing Club
Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) and Sportsbet have inked a five-year partnership deal that will start on January 1, 2024.
As part of the agreement, Sportsbet will become the naming rights partner for both the renowned Caulfield Cup and the Caulfield Cup Carnival. Sportsbet will donate AU$125,000 (US$83,900) to the MRC, a non-profit members organization that manages more than 80 racing meetings annually.
The deal also calls for supporting the growth of MRC Membership, investing in Mornington Racecourse’s racing development initiatives, and rewarding any horse that wins both the Sportsbet Caulfield Cup and the Sportsbet Mornington Cup in the same calendar year with a AU$1 million prize.
The main objective of the cooperation is to rebrand the sport to draw in more racing enthusiasts and increase its appeal to a wider range of sports fans. CEO of Sportsbet Barni Evans expressed happiness about the partnership and emphasized that both companies want to see more people enjoy racing. Apart from sponsoring the MRC, Sportsbet will annually provide AU$125,000 to the MRC Foundation, which will assist regional communities and racegoers.
Josh Blanksby, the CEO of Melbourne Racing Club, hailed the partnership as the most significant in the club’s history and expressed enthusiasm about working with Sportsbet to increase the sport’s popularity and solidify its place in the sports world. The partnership aims to increase the number of sports fans who watch racing by leveraging Sportsbet’s substantial market position in Australia.
