Alice Guo claims: “Masasabi ko po isa po akong victim.”

September 25, 2024 Philippines Crime & Legal

Alice Guo, whose real Chinese name is Guo Hua Ping, has revealed a “crucial personality” involved in the operations of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) during an executive session with the Senate panel on women. This revelation came to light in a statement made by panel head Senator Risa Hontiveros on September 25, 2024.

“Hindi pa din ako masyadong satisfied sa mga pahayag sa executive session, bagamat there was one crucial personality confirmed by Guo Hua Ping (I am not particularly satisfied with her statements during the executive session, but there was one crucial personality confirmed by Guo Hua Ping),” Hontiveros was quoted as saying in a report published by the Inquirer.

However, no further details were disclosed about the identity of this crucial figure. The Senate committee held the executive session after Guo pledged to identify the “most guilty” individuals behind crimes linked to illegal POGOs.

During the hearing, Sen. JV Ejercito questioned Guo about her potential involvement in these crimes. “Your honor, hindi po ako mastermind. Masasabi ko po isa po akong victim,” Guo responded. (“Your Honor, I am not the mastermind. I can say that I am a victim.”)

Ejercito then asked if Guo was being manipulated by an international crime syndicate.

(“It’s not that I was used, if ever, if I may have helped in any way…it’s because I am a helpful person. If I contributed, that’s all there is to it. But regarding the activities that were done or the allegations, I am not involved.”)

Guo insisted that she is not guilty and suggested that the committee might already know the identity of the mastermind behind the operations. “Your honor, I think sa tagal po ng investigation alam na rin po ng committee po, especially chaired by our madam chair, who’s really at the back of everything po,” she stated.

(“Your Honor, I think with the length of the investigation, the committee, especially our Madam Chair, already knows who is really behind everything.”)

Ejercito urged Guo to fully disclose what she knew during the executive session, emphasizing the importance of identifying those behind POGO-related crimes. “May pagkakataon ka pang sabihin kung sinuman ang talagang nasa likuran. Kasi kung sabi mo ikaw ay biktima, maawa rin tayo sa naging biktima ng POGO,” he said.

(“You have the opportunity to disclose all the people behind this. You’re claiming that you’re a victim, but let’s also pity those who have been victimized by POGOs.”)

When pressed on whether she was willing to reveal the most guilty parties, Guo affirmed her readiness to share that information.

Alice Guo is the subject of multiple complaints. She was arrested for her alleged connections to the POGO hub in Bamban, Tarlac that was raided for illegal activities. She is also facing cases related to graft, money laundering, and human trafficking.
