Harry Roque included in Immigration lookout for illegal POGO ties: PAOCC

August 6, 2024 Philippines Crime & Legal

Atty. Harry Roque is among those placed under Immigration lookout for their alleged involvement with illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

This was revealed by Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) spokesman Winston Casio in an August 5 interview with Teleradyo.

“Kanina po [August 5], naglabas ng Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order ang Department of Justice at pinirmahan ni Boying Remulla and na-transmit na sa Bureau of Immigration. Mayroon na tayong lookout bulletin sa mga taong tinuturing natin na persons of interest or possibly suspects sa mga kasong kakaharapin nila in relation to South 99,” said Casio in the interview.

Former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque has previously denied that he was a lawyer of Lucky South 99. He said that his client was Whirlwind Corporation, a service provider to Lucky South 99. Back then, Whirlwind was a holder of a valid license from PAGCOR.

Last Monday, Roque also admitted being an incorporator of a company that owns the residential house in Tuba, Benguet. When this house was raided recently, two foreigners believed to be linked to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) were arrested.

Senator Risa Hontiveros, chair of the committee that has been looking into alleged crimes at the POGOs, has disclosed that fugitive Sun Liming was among those arrested at the house partially owned by Roque. Sun is actually a Chinese national who faked documents and posed as a Cambodian citizen named Khuon Mouern.

Sun, who is being linked to the Porac POGO hub, is included in the Red Notice of Interpol which indicates he is an internationally wanted fugitive. This means that law enforcement agencies around the world have been asked to locate and arrest Sun for eventual deportation to face prosecution.

Through his Facebook page, Roque issued a statement regarding the Immigration Bulletin Lookout Order wherein he stated:

“I consider the Immigration Bulletin Lookout Order plain harassment.

“The only pieces of evidence they have are: one, that I have accompanied Katherine Cassandra Li Ong for rescheduling of arrears payment; and two, an uncorroborated organizational chart, which I had no participation in preparing neither did I consent to my name’s inclusion.

“This political witch hunt is intended to silence me as a critic of this Administration and I expect they will up the ante following my call, posted on Facebook, to keep Malacanang drug-free after the damning revelations of eyewitness Cathy Binag.

“There is no reason to leave the Philippines. I will face my accusers and answer all allegations related to offshore gaming.
Tulad ng sinasabi ko sa aking programang The Spox Hour, mahal ko ang Pilipinas, at ang Pilipinas lamang ang bansang aking pinakamamahal.”

The Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order instructs immigration officers to double check if the persons of interests have pending arrest warrants, violations or infractions, and to monitor their whereabouts should they attempt to leave the Philippines.
