Ex-AFL Boss McLachlan Takes Helm at Tabcorp
The notable Australian gaming company Tabcorp Holdings Limited has announced a massive reorganization, appointing Gillon McLachlan as CEO and Managing Director.
If all goes according to plan, McLachlan, the current CEO of the Australian Football League (AFL), will join Tabcorp in August.
Over the ten years that McLachlan has been in charge, the AFL has undergone significant growth. The AFL’s earnings more than doubled under his direction, and he secured the highest-paying sports broadcasting contract in Australian history.
In addition, he managed the league’s growth to include eighteen teams and the creation of the Australian Football League Women’s division.
With McLachlan’s background in sports, gambling, and stakeholder management, Tabcorp is hoping that he can assist them get through a challenging time.
Due to reduced gaming activity and increased taxes, the company recently disclosed a large loss and revenue decline.
Bruce Akhurst, chairman of Tabcorp, emphasized McLachlan’s business acumen by saying, “Gill brings a growth mindset and the capability to capitalize on the opportunities ahead.”
