Pachinko Titans Top Japan’s Rich List

Two pachinko tycoons are listed on Forbes’ 2024 list of Japan’s Richest 50, demonstrating the continued prosperity of the pachinko industry in Japan.

Chairman of Sega Sammy Holdings, Hajime Satomi, dropped to 47th place with a net worth of $1.06 billion from $1.3 billion in 2023 when his pachinko business Sammy acquired Sega.

Even more successful is Hideyuki Busujima, chairman of Sankyo, a manufacturer of pachinko machines, who is ranked 12th and has a combined fortune of $3.9 billion with his sisters.

Even if Satomi’s wealth has decreased somewhat, pachinko still has a significant impact on the Japanese economy; Tadashi Yanai of Uniqlo leads the list with $38 billion, while Masayoshi Son of SoftBank comes in second with $27 billion.
