Denmark’s Gambling Spend Dips in April

May 30, 2024 Denmark iGaming & Gambling

In April of this year, gambling expenditures in Denmark decreased 6.9% as compared to the same month the previous year, according to data from the Danish Gambling Regulator (Spillemyndigheden).

There was DKK 595 million ($86.4 million) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) from betting, online casinos, land-based casinos, and gaming machines combined.

With a 20.9% annual decline to DKK 195 million, sports betting was the worst affected. With 63% of all bets made, mobile betting is still the most popular. There were slight drops in both land-based casinos and slot machines.

Online casinos broke with the pattern, though, as their GGR rose by 6.04% to DKK 273 million. With online slots making up the largest portion (76.3%) and roulette coming in second (6.7%), this section currently leads in overall revenue.

This is not the case with the February 2024 trend, when gambling expenditures in Denmark increased by 18% overall, powered once more by online casinos.
