Macau’s Concessionaires Introduce New High-Odds Baccarat Side Bet

May 2, 2024 Macau Casino & HoteliGaming & Gambling

A new baccarat side bet with enticing odds of up to 50/1 is about to be introduced to Macau’s casino sector, pending approval from the casino Inspection and Coordination Bureau, the local regulator.

The side bet is named after the widely played Tiger No Commission Baccarat. It is also referred to as “Small 6/Big 6,” “Small Tiger/Big Tiger,” or “Small Lucky 6/Big Lucky 6” by other concessionaires.

By giving players the option to place two- or three-card side bets, it enhances the traditional Lucky Six gaming experience.

When a Banker wager wins with a two-card total of six, the “Small Tiger” wager, which has odds of 22/1, is paid out. At the alluring 50/1 odds, the “Big Tiger” bet pays out when the Banker wins with a three-card total of six.

Although the house edge is slightly lower than in traditional Lucky 6, at 14.3% for “Small 6” and 15.3% for “Big 6,” the attraction of two distinct side bet options is anticipated to increase player engagement, especially from Malaysian and Singaporean players.

It has been claimed that three concessionaires have implemented the new side bet on multiple baccarat tables, while others are waiting to see how their customers react.

Walker Digital Table Systems and Angel, two of Macau’s top suppliers of smart table game technology, have endorsed the wager, solidifying its standing in the gaming industry.

Although the DICJ has not yet commented on the matter, it is believed that the regulator approved the new wager’s launch on April 29 by sending game rules and specifics to the six concessionaires.

The advent of this intense baccarat experience is much anticipated by Macau’s gaming community, who believe it will increase excitement and engagement on the busiest casino floors in the area.
