Macau’s March 2024 Revenue Surges to US$2.43 Billion
Macau reported a significant increase in revenue in March 2024.
In March 2024, Macau’s monthly income reached MOP$19.5 billion (US$2.43 billion), a remarkable 53% rise from the previous year and a startling 5.5% increase over the previous month.
At MOP$57.3 billion, the total gross income for the year to date is 65.5% higher than the projected amount for 2023. Macau’s record-breaking tourism industry is a major force behind this expansion.
Visitor numbers during February show a considerable recovery, almost reaching pre-Covid levels. In February 2024, 3,293,564 people arrived in Macau, marking the highest number of arrivals since August 2019.
This represents a 15% increase from the previous month and an astounding 107% increase from the same time last year. The greatest number of same-day visitors since August 2019 was 1,867,660 out of them.
The trend indicates ongoing progress toward recovery, even if the region’s hotels recorded an average occupancy rate of 85.6%, somewhat lower than the pre-pandemic figure of nearly 90% seen in 2019.
Macau and Las Vegas are often contrasted, despite not being direct rivals. The Strip brought in $800.7 million in February, making up 1.34 billion of Nevada’s total gaming income.
