Air Macau to include first wide-body aircraft to its fleet this year
The first wide-body aircraft to be added to Air Macau’s fleet this year is scheduled to arrive in Macau. The A330-300 took off from Hangzhou early on Sunday morning, landing in Macau and then on to Beijing in the afternoon. Air China was the lessor of this aircraft.
In order to expand its European network, the airline plans to introduce a second wide-body aircraft later in the year to operate on medium- and long-haul routes, including additional destinations in the Middle East. This move aligns with Air Macau’s goal, which was declared in January, to introduce two wide-body aircraft to support the growth of Macau’s aviation industry.
With the introduction of the A300-600R, Air Macau’s first wide-body aircraft, the Taipei-Macau-Shanghai service might begin in 2006. But by 2007, the plane had been converted into a cargo.
With 26 airlines operating there, Macau Foreign Airport now serves 23 destinations in mainland China, three in Taiwan, and 17 overseas. 46% of the passengers are from the Chinese mainland, 16% are from Taiwan, and 38% are from international markets.
The Macau International Airport Corporation Limited (CAM) has declared its plans to augment its financial commitment towards creating inducements for airlines operating direct international and medium- to long-haul flights. The goal of this endeavor is to increase and enhance airport connectivity.
