Grand Ho Tram Resort CEo says preferences of Vietnamese casino players similar to those in Macau

March 14, 2024 Vietnam Casino & Hotel

Walt Power, the CEO of the Grand Ho Tram Resort and Casino, said that Macau’s casino patron tastes and the gaming activities held at the resort in Vietnam are somewhat similar.

He made the observation that while there are more players in Macau than in roulette and blackjack, the bulk of the business is devoted to baccarat.

roughly 80% to 85% of the casino’s player base is comprised of three major markets: South Korea, Taiwan, and mainland China, with South Korea accounting for roughly 40% of all players. Local players are not yet accepted at the casino.

The customers of the casino are mostly company owners, manufacturers, and people engaged in international commerce, and they come from the Guangdong region of China. Customers include foreigners who own and operate enterprises in Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh City.

In contrast to Macau, The Grand Ho Tram allows smoking at tables on the main casino floor. Baccarat tables attract high rollers because to their huge minimum wagers, which range from US$50,000 to US$100,000. In an attempt to stay competitive, the casino has been upgrading its collection of electronic gaming machines and slots. It also has a VIP gaming area.

The prime minister is in control of the whole process and the ministries in charge of regulating casino gambling in Vietnam are the State Bank of Vietnam and the Ministry of Finance. Despite the lack of an equivalent in Macau’s gaming laws, The Grand Ho Tram employs internal controls and safety measures to safeguard its property.

In conclusion, Mr. Power emphasized the need of developing a compelling offer for guests that extends beyond gaming and the value of non-gaming attractions in integrated resorts. In his opinion, integrated resorts need to provide a range of experiences, with gaming and non-gaming components working together to increase the establishment’s appeal.
