Industry experts highlights increasing opportunities for women in PH gaming sector.

March 13, 2024 Philippines Industry Updates

Aristocrat Gaming hosted an International Women’s Day celebration in Manila, Philippines, where leaders in the sector highlighted the increasing opportunities for women in the Philippine gaming industry.

The gaming technology supplier hosted its first-ever event in Asia, which served as a platform for discussions around gender equality and inclusion in the sector.

More opportunities for women arise, according to Cheryl Tiglao, Director of Slots at Hann Casino Resort, as foreign investment in the nation’s gaming industry rises. She encouraged more faith in the abilities of women by highlighting the need of equal opportunities for men and women.

Head of Business Development and Resort Marketing at Universal Hotels and Resorts Inc. Katrina Mae De Jesus echoed Tiglao’s comments, highlighting the expanding opportunities for women in the workforce, particularly in the iGaming sector. She emphasized the need of creating workplace environments that are gender-neutral and enabling women to excel in leadership and technical roles.

Vina Claudette Oca, Assistant Vice President of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR) for Gaming Licensing and Development, commended the nation for its outstanding results on global gender equality indices. She did, however, emphasize the need for faster progress toward gender equality and called for campaigns to advance gender parity both within and outside of the gaming industry.

All of the panelists agreed that initiatives that empower women and advance gender equality must be supported. The need of ongoing discussions and actions to advance inclusion, equality, and diversity in the gaming industry was emphasized.

In their presentation at the event, Aristocrat Gaming emphasized how committed the firm is to increasing the number of women in leadership roles and creating a welcoming environment. The company highlighted initiatives like the “Ready to Rise” professional development program for women and their allies, and its commitment to the gender composition goals set out by initiatives like HESTA’s “40:40 Vision.”

Ultimately, the occasion served as a platform to honor the achievements of women in the video game industry and to promote further advancements in the areas of gender inclusion and equality.
