Macau casino magnates propose “multi-stop” travel itineraries in Macau, HK, China

Macau’s gaming titans. In discussions held in China’s parliament and highest political advisory body, Pansy Ho and Francis Lui suggested pushing “multi-stop” travel packages that visit Macau, Hong Kong, and other Chinese cities.

Chairman of MGM China, a casino company in Macau, and a member of the CPPCC’s National Committee, Pansy Ho, stressed the potential for coordinating “multi-stop” tours in conjunction with “Chinese culture-themed” travel goods. She emphasized the need to use the unique geographic locations, historical backgrounds, and cultural diversity of Hong Kong and Macau to draw tourists from outside and promote them as must-see locations.

Ho suggested designing six-to-ten-day “multi-stop” trips that would allow travelers to fully immerse themselves in Chinese culture via visits to both cities and other mainland Chinese locations.

The concept was presented by Francis Lui, vice president of Galaxy Entertainment Group and member of the CPPCC, who supported a collaboration between Macau and Hong Kong to investigate the “joint tour” industry. He emphasized the need for Hong Kong to use its distinct features in order to draw in high-end tourists.

Lui said that Macau’s ability to keep tourists longer may be attributed to the city’s hosting of large-scale events that appeal to families and include a variety of elements, hence enhancing the destination’s appeal.
