Mohegan Inspire’s Grand Opening celebrated as vital Korea-US partnership
The Grand Opening of Mohegan Inspire Entertainment Resort took place on Tuesday, drawing over 500 guests and dignitaries from South Korea and the USA to commemorate the occasion.
Regarded as one of the largest foreign investment ventures in the nation, Mohegan Inspire is now Korea’s largest foreigner-only casino project, featuring 150 gaming tables, 390 slot machines, and a 160-seat electronic table games (ETG) stadium spanning two floors.
The comprehensive integrated resort, which includes three hotel towers, MICE facilities, signature restaurants, an entertainment street, and an indoor water park, opened its doors in November. Additional amenities such as a retail mall, outdoor experiential space, international food court, immersive content exhibition hall, and indoor children’s playground are slated to open by mid-2024.
At the Grand Opening, US Ambassador to Korea Philip Goldberg hailed the event as a significant moment in strengthening the relationship between the two nations, emphasizing the evolution of their partnership beyond military ties into a comprehensive strategic alliance.
Culture Minister Yu In-chon expressed optimism that the Inspire resort’s opening would elevate Korea’s cultural and tourism industry, fostering goodwill and healthy competition in the casino sector.
James Gessner Jr., chairman of the Mohegan Tribe, highlighted the positive impact of the Inspire opening, citing the creation of nearly 3,000 local jobs.
