Cambodian authorities inspect, crack down 100 illegal gambling sites in 18 cities
The Ministry of Interior’s spokesperson, General Khieu Sopheak, said yesterday that between January 1 and February 15, 2024, the government carried out examinations and raids on 100 illicit gaming establishments in 18 different cities around the nation.
There were 146 arrests made as a result of the operations.
Legal action was taken against 49 places in 15 provincial capitals out of the 100 venues that were looked at and targeted; charges are being prepared for trial. Additionally, contracts and instructions were used in 51 locations to pursue administrative actions.
Moreover, two suspected homes were searched by the police on February 15. Administrative measures were initiated at one facility that was involved in internet gambling, while legal action was launched against another.
