Macau continues to have the highest number of Forbes-recognized five-star hotels worldwide, according to Forbes Travel Guide’s 2024 Star Awards. There are 22 five-star award winners in the city; most of them are housed in casino resort structures.
The most recent addition to Forbes’ list of five-star hospitality spots in Macau is The Paiza Lofts, an all-suite hotel with a French theme located within Sands China Ltd.’s Parisian Macao casino complex.
In terms of dining establishments, Macau has 61 Forbes-rated five-star spas and restaurants in 2024—a little down from 63 the previous year. The city has 16 five-star spas and 23 five-star restaurants, which is two less than the 2023 list, in addition to its 22 top-rated hotels.
Top-rated Macau hospitality venues include the Grand Lisboa Palace Macau, the Karl Lagerfeld hotel at the Grand Lisboa Palace property of SJM Holdings Ltd., the British-themed Londoner Hotel and Londoner Court at The Londoner Macao run by Sands China, and the Galaxy Hotel at Galaxy Macau resort by Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd.
Among the other well-known five-star hotels in Galaxy Macau are Banyan Tree Macau, Hotel Okura Macau, and The Ritz-Carlton, Macau. The complex also has two upscale spas and two five-star dining establishments.
Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd., which operates the City of Dreams, Studio City, and Altira Macau hotels, spas, and restaurants in Macau, has won twelve five-star awards.
The parent business of Wynn Macau Ltd, Wynn Resorts Ltd, has secured 15 five-star ratings in Macau for its Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace hotels, restaurants, and spas.
Apart from the Karl Lagerfeld Hotel and the Grand Lisboa Palace Macau, SJM Holdings has seven more Forbes five-star ratings for establishments including the Grand Lisboa Hotel, three spas, and three restaurants.
The MGM Macau and MGM Cotai hotels of MGM China Holdings Ltd. received seven five-star awards for 2024, demonstrating its recognition.
Five-star ratings were given to Sands China’s Four Seasons Hotel Macao and Grand Suites at the Four Seasons Hotel Macao. The Four Seasons was also honored for its spa and Zi Yat Heen restaurant.
Aside from integrated resorts, this year’s Mandarin Oriental, Macau earned two five-star ratings for its hotel and spa, and a four-star rating for its Vida Rica restaurant.
Furthermore, two “recommended” restaurants, two spas, and four hotels in Macau were awarded four stars. Apart from Vida Rica, the Grand Lisboa Palace’s Mesa restaurant received a four-star rating, while two eateries received “recommended” status in the 2024 Star Awards.
